Yang Wen-li and Fyodor Patrichev, having received transfer orders out of Econia, accompany Christopf von Köfenhiller to Heinessen. During a layover on the planet Masszitt, Köfenhiller recounts his participation of the Second Battle of Tiamat and the circumstances that triggered his interest in investigating the connection between Martin Otto von Siegmeister, Christoph von Michaelsen and Bruce Ashbey. Soon after he finishes his tale, he dies in the spaceport terminal.
