'Equipo de Investigación' discovers that the illegal trafficking of puppies is the dark business behind some pet stores. In the report 'Amores perros', the program verifies that many animals are sold from the same establishments associated with veterinary clinics, located in the province of Toledo, why? Individuals and veterinarians from all over Spain denounce that they receive sick dogs, which die a few days after being bought in these stores. Who are the people responsible for them? Where are the breeders? The reporters of 'Equipo de investigación' show that the growing demand for certain breeds and the ease of uncontrolled trade over the Internet has led to the massive importation of puppies from Eastern countries. The mafias take advantage of the legal vacuum existing in countries such as Slovakia or Hungary to breed dogs in terrible conditions and offer them at a very cheap cost. They travel overcrowded in trucks, unvaccinated and with false documentation.
