In 2022, Cecília realizes the harm that the "House of Paz" will do to Água-Marinha and to Maria's business, leading her to make drastic changes. Maria, meanwhile, begins to see Cecília in a different light. In 1922, although she has become more aware of the limitations of the time, Paz uses her "influencing" abilities and Cecília’s best friend in an attempt to win the priest's support.
