When Terry Lane, ex-cop turned private detective, is caught with a body she enlists help of Catherine McVicar, a corporate lawyer to clear the accusations.

Terry is trying to help an anoying comic who's being threatened and Catherine represents his wife who's suing him for custody.

Terry is hired by a mysterious young man who wants to find his father, Elvis.

Catherine's old schoolfriend, Didi, is accused of murder and she seeks asylum with Catherine. Terry tries to help but gets a surprise when the case is taken over by her old love interest Mac Stringer, an RCMP officer.

Terry and Catherine work to fulfill a wealthy man's dying wish that his illegitimate son inherit his fortune while his two daughters do everything they can to hinder the investigation.
