This origin narrative is set in the late 1800s and follows Abby Walker, a rich Bostonian whose husband is murdered in front of her eyes while on their voyage out West, as she meets Hoyt Rawlins, a lovable rogue in quest of purpose. The voyage of Abby and Hoyt leads them to Independence, Texas, a little town with a bright future.
