In the calendar year 2138 reality gaming is booming. Yggdrasil, there is a popular game quietly shut down. One player named Momonga determines not to log outside. Momonga is subsequently transformed to the image of a sword as"probably the most powerful magician" The planet continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) beginning to feel emotion. Having no parents, friends, or even place this average youngman Momonga subsequently strives to simply take over the new universe the game has become.
