The series tells the story of Laurie, Nathan and their mother Stephanie who find refuge in a shelter for abused women. For the children, this first night in this unknown place is most worrying. They are confronted with the reality of a daily life shared with other women and children in accommodation. As these meetings unfold, Stephanie and her children must learn to rebuild their lives. And soon, she will have to make heartbreaking choices.
