A body of an adolescent girl was discovered in the woods close to the rural community of Manscheid, which is located far up in the northern region of Luxembourg. The investigation has been given to Luc Capitani, a brusque detective from from the southern region of the country. Because Capitani has difficulty traversing the insular, communal, and protective mentality of the northerners, he finds himself involuntarily dependent on the assistance of Elsa Ley, a young and daring local policewoman. The officers immediately realize that they are caught up in a labyrinth of lies and concealed information.
