A Brooklyn writer, jonathan Ames, is sense lost. He's only gone through a painful breakup, thanks partly to his drinking, can not write his publication, also carouses much with his magazine picture editor. Rather than face reality, Jonathan turns alternatively into his dreams moonlighting as a private detective -- as he wishes to be a hero and a person of action.
