Last Trailer for New Movie From the ‘Wizard of Horror’ Teases a Nonstop Nightmare Coming Next Week

Instead of critics, Osgood Perkins let some of horror’s biggest creators watch Keeper early — and their rave reactions now power the film’s final trailer, teasing one of the year’s most terrifying releases.

Osgood Perkins’ new horror film Keeper — already being hailed as an “unforgettable experience” and “pure nightmare fuel” — has dropped its final trailer, and it’s a chilling warning of what could be the year’s most disturbing movie. Set for release on November 14, the film looks poised to thrust Perkins back into the spotlight as one of modern horror’s boldest and most unsettling filmmakers.

Keeper stars Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland as a couple seeking a quiet weekend retreat in an isolated cabin. Unlike most of Perkins’ previous works, this film is based on a screenplay by Nick Lepard. Development began during the SAG-AFTRA strike, requiring producers to partner with a non-WGA screenwriter. While Perkins and Neon have kept the story tightly guarded, both the director and Maslany have hinted that the film explores themes of “disgusting maleness” and “the horror of heterosexuality.” Perkins has further teased that Keeper is a relationship horror story “where the relationship is the scary thing.”

The final trailer — tagged with the ominous line, “Let’s go back to when we didn’t know any of this” — offers flashes of the nightmare awaiting Maslany’s character, Liz. Disturbing, surreal imagery fills the screen, but the most intriguing part is the reaction clips featured throughout. The comments come from a select group who have already seen the film… and their identities may surprise viewers.

Hollywood Heavyweights Applaud Osgood Perkins’ Latest Descent Into Terror

For the final trailer of Keeper, Neon has leaned into an unconventional — and refreshingly bold — marketing strategy. Rather than offering early screenings to critics, the studio partnered with director Osgood Perkins to show the film directly to his peers: some of the most influential voices in modern genre cinema. Their reactions proved enthusiastic enough that Neon incorporated their pull quotes into the trailer itself, using their praise to further stoke anticipation for Perkins’ latest descent into horror.

Hideo Kojima — legendary game creator and noted cinephile — exclaimed, “Once again, Osgood Perkins blends new fear and surprise. He is the wizard of horror.” Guillermo del Toro, the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind The Shape of Water and the upcoming Frankenstein, offered equally high praise, calling Keeper “horror origami that skillfully folds into itself.”

James Wan, known for The Conjuring and Saw, described the film as “a terrifying, ghostly descent into madness.” Fede Álvarez, director of Evil Dead (2013) and Alien: Romulus, called it “an experience of pure terror.” Damien Leone, creator of the Terrifier franchise, added that “Perkins is a formidable voice in horror.” And multi-Oscar-winner Bong Joon-ho, director of Parasite, concluded that “Perkins has a natural talent for discomfort that transforms into fear.”
