Overview
Annually in the ruins of what was once North America forces its twelve districts each to send girl to compete in the Hunger Games and a teenaged boy. Part perverted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games really are a nationally televised event in which"Tributes" has to fight together until a survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her instincts in addition to former victor Haymitch Abernathy's mentorship. If she is to go back home Katniss has to create choices that are impossible in the stadium that weigh survival against humankind and life. The entire world will be watching.
