Overview
This vibrant, romantic criminal drama set in Shanghai during WWII is full with gangsters. Hsu Wen-story Chiang's begins on a beach near Shanghai. Ting Lik, a sympathetic beggar, takes him in because he is in love with Feng Ching-Ching, a famous gangster's daughter. Ting Lik quickly rises through the ranks of the underground to become one of the city's most prominent gangsters. Hsu stays at his side and utilizes his own power to avenge those who tried to kill him previously. Later in the film, Feng, who was on the run in northern China, had a connection with Hsu. In the present, Hsu and Feng rekindle their romance until Hsu discovers Feng's father is one of his adversaries and murders him. Feng is distraught. Ting learns of it and vows vengeance.
