Overview

Subsequent to the Second World War, a cannery that is northern combine negotiates for buying a huge tract of Georgia farmland. The significant portion of the land is owned by Julie Ann Warren and has been optioned by her draft dodging husband. Now two plots must be also obtained by the combine - one owned by Henry's cousin Rad McDowell, a combat veteran with loved ones and a wife. A young man whose mum had been Julie's childhood Mammy, The other from Reeve Scott. But Rad nor even Reeve is enthusiastic about attempting to sell and so they form a partnership to better their land. Henry remains determined to push the large land deal, although infuriated by the turn of events. So when Reeve's mum Rose dies, Henry tries to convince his wife to charge Reeve confident bigoted Judge Purcell will rule against a Negro.
