Overview

A wide-ranging period-piece tracing the rise of the Protestant Henry of Navarre as he moves into France's beloved King Henri IV. The epic of director Jo Baier is just actually a classically entertaining adventure, albeit one having more than a small frequent and blood shed sexual interludes that are bawdy. In overdue France, both Protestant Huguenots and Catholics were in war. Apparently seeking peace, the French dowager queen, Catherine de Medici summons Henry for her court to have him wed her daughter, uniting both warring factions.
