Overview

Following his wife's death, Frank Fogle reluctantly goes on a journey to fulfill her final desire of scattering her ashes in a lonely lake in her native Ireland, with the promise of bringing his estranged son, Sean, along for the ride. When Sean is released from prison, the last thing on his mind is a car trip around the world with his estranged father. California provides him with the opportunity for a fresh start. He hesitantly accepts his father's proposal in exchange for a one-way ticket to the West Coast and the guarantee that they will never have to see one other again if his trip plans fall through. After encountering an unusual Irish wake, rekindling an old flame, picking up a pretty hitchhiker, and dealing with a number of unresolved issues, the trip turns into something more than father and son had prepared for.
