Overview
During the 1950s, Natasha ran the canteen at a Soviet scientific institution that was kept under wraps. The DAU's personnel, scientists, and international visitors all congregate here, making this the center of the institute. While working in the canteen throughout the day, Natasha and Olga drink heavily and talk about their hopes for love and a better future, which they share with one another. It is during one of these gatherings that Natasha meets and eventually falls in love with Luc Bige, an overnight guest from France. She is summoned to an interview by the KGB's General Vladimir Azhho, who examines the nature of her relationship with the foreign guest the following day.
