Ganj, The Treasures of Shah Jo Risalo (2026)
GANJ: The Treasures of Shah Jo Risalo explores the timeless wisdom of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai a Sufi poet, saint and philosopher. Through the lens of his poetic works referred to as the Shah Jo Risalo, the film retells the harrowing tales of Bhittai’s Seven Queens: Marvi, Moomal, Sohni, Leela, Noori, Sassi, and Sorath. Written nearly 350 years ago, these stories remarkably challenge patriarchal notions by portraying women as self determined, and devoted seekers of justice. Featuring analysis from renowned experts and poetry sung by the legendary Abida Parveen, GANJ seeks to globalise Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s legacy and firmly establish him as the first known feminist Sufi poet in the world. The title GANJ, meaning bountiful or plenty, aptly suggests that the wisdom found in Shah Jo Risalo are treasures waiting to be uncovered and the messages of courage, spirituality and love remain profoundly relevant today.
